In the midst of the challenges faced by displaced communities, needs go beyond material assistance. There is also a need for spaces where people can be heard, supported, and able to share their experiences and knowledge.
In response to this need, African Vision Organization – Blue Nile Regional Office initiated an awareness session supported by psychosocial support for displaced women from Al Kurmuk at Al-Mak Yusuf Centre in Roseires.
More than 40 women from different age groups participated in the session, which provided a safe space for discussion, awareness and psychosocial support. The participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity and highlighted the importance of continuing similar sessions.
The discussions also reflected their aspirations for practical opportunities, including skills training in handicrafts and small-scale businesses, as well as access to small financing opportunities that could help them develop sources of income.
The session was implemented as a self-funded initiative by African Vision Organization – Blue Nile Regional Office, reflecting the organization’s commitment to responding to community needs despite limited resources.
Because sometimes, support begins with creating a safe space to listen
