Bringing Healthcare Closer to Hard-to-Reach Communities in Tawila, North Darfur

In Tawila Locality, North Darfur, access to essential healthcare services can be challenging for communities living in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Distance, difficult terrain and limited access to fixed health facilities can create additional barriers for people seeking basic healthcare.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support underserved communities, the African Vision for Development (AVDO) is implementing a mobile clinic initiative that brings healthcare services directly to communities in areas that are difficult to reach through conventional fixed health facilities.

The approach is simple but important: when people cannot easily reach the service, the service needs to come closer to them.

Through the mobile clinic, AVDO works to extend healthcare access to communities in remote areas of Tawila Locality, helping reduce geographical barriers and bringing essential services closer to where people live.

This work is implemented by African Vision for Development (AVDO) in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.

For AVDO, reaching hard-to-reach communities is not only about covering distance. It is about ensuring that geographical barriers do not become barriers to accessing essential services.
