On 1 August 2026, the Gedaref State office of the African Vision for Development Organization (AVDO) completed rehabilitation works on 36 latrines at Abu Nagaa (A) Camp, in response to wind damage that had broken and dislodged a number of latrine doors, compromising their proper use.
The rehabilitation works included the installation of 14 new doors, alongside the repair and restoration to service of 24 existing doors, contributing to improved sanitation facilities and to greater privacy and safety for beneficiaries within the camp.
This intervention forms part of AVDO’s ongoing efforts in Gedaref State to respond to humanitarian needs, strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, and help ensure safe and dignified facilities for displaced persons at displacement sites.
