Group Discussions Mark Day Three of the Facilitators’ Training Program Organized by the African Vision Organization for Development in Gedaref
Dr. Abdel Bagi Idris, Director of the African Vision Organization for Development in Gedaref State, confirmed that the third day of the facilitators’ training program at the Training and Capacity Building Center featured extensive discussions among participants. Group work was formed to engage in topics such as teacher competencies and qualifications, continuous assessment and evaluation, in addition to various other subjects aimed at enhancing and advancing alternative education in the state.
Dr. Idris emphasized that adult education will undergo a significant transformation through the facilitators who received training during this course, which included participants from West Gallabat and Rural Central Gedaref. He added that the training programs will continue to cover all targeted localities in the state. He also revealed that the organization will provide all necessary educational materials for alternative education centers, expressing his hope that the training content delivered during the sessions will be implemented effectively on the ground to benefit the students in these centers.
The training program, funded by UNICEF and implemented by the African Vision Organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Guidance, specifically the Department of Training and Capacity Building, targeted 30 facilitators from the localities of Central Gedaref and West Gallabat.
Mr. Malik Al-Khidr, Director of Adult Education and Literacy at the Ministry, praised the ongoing and substantial support provided by UNICEF in all educational activities and programs across the state. His remarks came during the same training course, which focused on core subjects—Arabic language and mathematics—to prepare 30 facilitators for work in shelter centers in the aforementioned localities.
Mr. Al-Khidr confirmed that the course aims to prepare well-rounded facilitators capable of delivering content effectively within shelter centers. He also noted that by the fifth day, the training was progressing efficiently and distinctly, as participants had received comprehensive theoretical and practical input enabling them to teach using modern scientific methods while also addressing literacy and numeracy challenges among learners.
He extended his sincere thanks to UNICEF, the African Vision Organization for Development, and the Ministry of Education and Guidance, as well as to the General Directorate of Training and Capacity Building for preparing the center and selecting the facilitators. He also expressed appreciation to the Educational Media Unit for covering the program.
Ms. Buthaina Adam Abdullah, one of the facilitators, highlighted several key themes addressed during the course. These included the psychological characteristics of adult learners, their motivation to learn, as well as the psychological profiles of children, adolescents, and young adults up to 24 years old. She emphasized the use of participatory teaching methods that encourage cooperation between teachers and students within the classroom setting.
Participants in the training course expressed their deep appreciation for the knowledge and skills gained and confirmed their commitment to applying what they learned in practical educational settings.
