Mr. Daniel, UNICEF’s Chief of Education, visited Al-Qadarif State to follow up on the activities of the “Safe Learning Space in Emergencies” project, funded by UNICEF and implemented by the African Vision for Development Organization. The project aims to support education for children affected by crises and provide a safe and sustainable learning environment.
Mr. Daniel began his visit at Al-Mo’assasat School in Baladiat Al-Qadarif locality, where he met with students and teachers and observed the project’s progress and the challenges facing the educational process under the current conditions. He also discussed with the teaching staff how students benefit from the project and its positive impact on improving the quality of education and students’ well-being, helping them to continue their studies despite the challenges.
Mr. Daniel then proceeded to Umm Shajirat School in Al-Galabat Al-Gharbiya locality, where he observed the educational activities and support programs provided within the “Safe Learning Space ” project. He took note of the specific challenges facing the school and expressed his interest in enhancing support to expand the project to reach more children in emergency-affected areas.
This visit reaffirms UNICEF’s commitment to supporting education in emergency areas and ensuring children’s right to a safe learning environment. The “Safe Learning Space ” project aims to provide a supportive environment that contributes to improving the mental and social well-being of students and equips them with essential educational skills.
Mr. Daniel was accompanied on his visit by a delegation from UNICEF’s Al-Qadarif State office and a team from the African Vision for Development Organization, led by Deputy Executive Director Mr. Mohamed Idriss. Mr. Idriss affirmed the organization’s commitment to continue working in collaboration with UNICEF to expand the project and provide additional support to improve the educational environment for children in Al-Qadarif State.
