Umm Shajirat School… From Hardship to Glory

When we reflect on the educational journey of Umm Shajirat School, we find a story of perseverance and resilience, written on the pages of time with letters of patience and determination. After securing the 10th place in the locality with a 63% success rate for the sixth grade, today, the school completes its triumph by achieving an outstanding 83.4% success rate in the intermediate certificate for girls—a testament to the power of will in overcoming adversity.

This school was born in the heart of suffering, amidst displacement and hardship, inhabited by souls burdened with crises and tragedies. Its students endured the bitterness of militia oppression—plundering, looting, terror, humiliation, and violence—until fate led them to the Umm Shajirat Camp.

A Camp That Became a Homeland

In this camp, people from different corners of the nation came together, turning their struggle into hope and their exile into a home. Amidst tents and makeshift shelters, they endured the freezing cold of winter and the scorching heat of summer, surviving for nine months on humanitarian aid while envisioning a brighter future against all odds.

But the flame of hope refused to fade, and thus the idea was born: a school for the stranded!
It started with only five students and soon grew to accommodate 133, thanks to the efforts of devoted individuals who dedicated themselves to spreading knowledge. Among them was a man of relentless determination, tirelessly working day and night, his feet worn from the journey, never complaining or showing fatigue.

The Path to Education… Unwavering Dedication

The road was not easy, but the involvement of Abdulrahman Abdullah Kabida, Director of Education in Al-Qalabat locality, marked a turning point. He cleared the obstacles and paved the way for a promising educational future for the displaced. Soon after, UNICEF extended its support, providing classrooms, learning materials, school uniforms, and teacher resources.

Complementing these efforts was The African Vision for Development Organization, led by tireless individuals like Mohamed Idris, Ibrahim Abdullah, Mohamed Al-Mubarak, Mahdi Abakar, and Abu Bakr, who dedicated their time and energy to making Umm Shajirat School a reality.

The Teachers… Angels Walking on Earth

Yet, the most profound role belongs to the teachers—the displaced heroes who, despite their hardships, embraced their mission wholeheartedly. Each one was a school in their own right, possessing decades of experience. Their knowledge flowed effortlessly, inscribing wisdom onto blackboards while engraving it into the minds of their students. For five months, they worked tirelessly, as if angels walking among us, devoted to a noble cause.

A Legacy of Hope and Gratitude

Today, we reap the fruits of those relentless efforts.
We thank Allah for His boundless grace, and we extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed colleagues—not because they seek recognition, but because they carry a noble mission, fulfilling their duty with silent dedication, seeking only the reward from Allah.

Umm Shajirat School… From the depths of hardship, light was born.
